Canterbury Floor Stickers

Project Type

Infographics

Date

2021

Originally, Canterbury Council contacted me after seeing some of my previous work and asked if I could help design and make the new floor stickers that would advertise the Covid-19 guidelines at that time. After agreeing they found two other artists which would help create the idea of the floor sticker and afterwards I would digitalise it and finalise the idea.

After having the official idea drafted up and created by a team of artists and I, I alone started to recreate some of the designs on Illustrator to see the client’s reaction to the more finished pieces. After receiving feedback from not only the client but also my peers I decided to continue with one specific design which would later on be the final one below. I further digitalised it and altered it to become more iconic and eye-catching and even used typography to create a safe yet commanding tone to help demonstrate the importance of the message within. I used bright bold colours to draw the eye in and used shape to help pull the eye around the image and towards the writing, as this is the most important part. I ensured to use Canterbury’s most iconic landmark, Canterbury Cathedral, to easily portray to anyone where this project is located and to help it fit into Canterbury’s setting when it was finally laid down on the high street. After all of this design work the stickers were finally ready to be placed around Canterbury’s most famous and popular places to help portray to everyone the guidelines in a more engaging way.

We placed the stickers down in front of peers and viewers and they remained there for quite some time.

After a few months Canterbury Council asked if I could create some other pieces within this project as they were a very popular idea within the high streets of Canterbury.
